We heard the sad news this week that Meat Loaf has passed away at the age of 74. Bob was right there, just feet away from the legendary performer, when he made his remarkable live UK TV debut on The Old Grey Whistle Test back in 1978. Bob was also the compere of his sold-out show at London’s Hammersmith Odeon around the same time, and has some wonderful memories to share. Plus we’ll be hearing from loyal Sounds of the 70s listeners too, recalling the first time they were bowled over by the power of the peerless Bat Out Of Hell album.
Also, we’ll revisit 2016’s Meat Loaf guest slot on our My 70s feature, and throughout the programme expect another lovingly-curated playlist of amazing songs, plus another unusual quirky moment in music that turned out to be One Of A Kind.
Johnnie returns next week we’ve more of your stories, requests and dedications, so get in touch anytime for a mention on one of our future shows, and to suggest a song for Johnnie’s Jukebox via walker@bbc.co.uk
And make sure you never miss your favourite Sounds Of The Seventies programme every week by hitting the ’Subscribe’ button now on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Sounds, and it’s then ready for you to listen to or download whenever you like.
