Yannis Philippakis takes over this week's indie playlist

Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis shares the indie tunes that helped shaped his band. With music from Friendly Fires, TV on the Radio, Feist, Metronomy and more.

Formed in 2005 in Oxford, British indie rock band Foals consists of drummer and percussionist Jack Bevan and rhythm guitarist Jimmy Smith, and Greek-born lead singer and guitarist Yannis Philippakis.

The band have won various awards in their 17 years together, including 'Best British Group' at the Brits 2020, and released their 7th dance-rock banger-filled studio album 'Life Is Yours' earlier this year.

But before they got to this point, Yannis Philippakis takes us back in time to 2007/2008 when Foals were just starting out. Exploring where indie music was at a fertile crossover between electric textures, dance music and live guitars and live rock music.
