Richard Hawley is Johnnie's My 70s guest

Singer-songwriter Richard Hawley is Johnnie's My 70s guest, plus Queen are among the artists featured on This Week in Music.

Richard Hawley grew up in Sheffield, the son of musical parents. Born at the end of the 1960s, his early band Treebound Story recorded a Peel Session for Radio 1, but he's best known for being a member of the Longpigs in the 90s and then Pulp. As a solo artist he's released eight albums and has also worked with the likes of Paul Weller, Hank Marvin and Duane Eddy.

Richard's music is currently being used as the backdrop to a play at London's Barbican, called Standing at the Sky's Edge, which is also the name of his 2012 Mercury Music Prize-nominated album. He'll chat to Johnnie about his musical memories and his influences of the 1970s.
