Tom Service introduces superb recordings from the JACK Quartet at London's Wigmore Hall. "phr膿n" by Eric Wubbels is an irresistible listening experience - tuning systems shift slowly over time, creating an extraordinary world in this compulsive performance. Cenk Erg眉n was born in Turkey and in his piece "Celare" he uses modes or scales from the Turkish makam鈥� - the system of melody used in Turkish classical and folk music. The title comes from the Latin proverb 鈥楢rs est celare artem鈥� - The art is in concealing art.
