A Fortunate Coincidence

Episode 6 of 12

Multiple teams join forces to find a missing person, an amazing coincidence aids a walker who collapses with hypothermia in a storm, and a wrong turn puts young friends in danger.

It's time for a large-scale, multi-agency operation when the rescuers face one of the most labour-intensive types of call-out – a missing person search. The alarm is raised when a hiker fails to return to his campsite in the Rhiniogau mountains and his fellow walkers become concerned. From the coastguard helicopter to the search and rescue dogs, all the area’s rescue teams pull together in a bid to find him in this vast and inhospitable terrain. But with every passing hour, their fears for his safety grow.

On Cader Idris, a walker collapses with suspected hypothermia in icy, stormy conditions. It’s only by sheer coincidence that a mountain rescue volunteer happens to be hiking on the same mountain – and steps in to help keep him alive until rescue teams arrive. Will they be in time to save him?

A group of young friends decide to climb one of the area’s toughest peaks. But in this treacherous landscape, the best day can very quickly become the very worst. Icy weather and a wrong turn on their way down puts them all in danger, and an urgent rescue operation is launched.
