A local MLA believes the Irish government will return to their original commitment to fund almost half the cost of the A5 upgrade.
Daniel McCrossan, SDLP MLA for West Tyrone, tells North West Today he believes the Irish government's commitment to the upgrade of the road is stronger than ever.
We also hear from Kate Corrigan whose 20-year-old son Nathan was killed on the A5 along with two friends in December 2021.
Kate tells us she hopes that the new infrastructure minister, John O'Dowd, will meet bereaved families to 'hear first hand the devastation a fatal RTC has on families and local communities'.
