Poet Jackie Kay and Concrete Dreams: The Rise & Fall of Cumbernauld Town Centre
Poet and former Makar Jackie Kay talks about her shortlisting for the Saltire Awards for her recent collection, May Day.
Poet and former Makar Jackie Kay discusses being shortlisted for the Saltire Awards for her recent poetry collection, May Day. At the heart of May Day is a tender exploration of the legacy of her late parents, how much they meant to her and how profoundly their absence has impacted her.
And Len is also joined by writer Alison Irvine and illustrator Mitch Miller, who have collaborated on Concrete Dreams: The Rise and Fall of Cumbernauld Town Centre. They discuss the making of this striking book, which captures the impact of the unique megastructure that contained a whole town centre鈥檚 worth of shops, flats, municipal offices, leisure facilities and more.
