While young Ichiji, Niji, Yonji, and Reiju make significant progress with their physical abilities and in their training, young Sanji is locked up in an underground cell for months. He reminisces about his kind mother, Sora, now deceased, and makes up his mind to become a cook. He has cookbooks and cooking utensils brought to his cell where he practices cooking. His three brothers, who find out that Sanji is still alive, frequently visit the cell to beat him up, and Reiju secretly comes later to treat his wounds. Sanji confesses his aspiration to Reiju, and she breaks him out of the cell. As Sanji is making his escape, he runs into his father, Judge, who lets Sanji go but asks him not to reveal their family ties to the outside world.
