Haruomi Hosono - Watering a Flower
Stuart's featured album is an ultra rare landmark of Tokyo ambient Haruomi Hosono's Watering a Flower. Plus Stereolab, Magma and contemporary classical music from Warrington.
"Hey Mr DJ, do you have any Icelandic Theremin doom ambient in the box?" Well, funny you should ask, because yes we do!
Other aural delights in the Freak Zone record box this week include Magma, Stereolab, leftfield Americana, Japanese jazz pop and, obviously, contemporary classical music from Warrington.
Plus Stuart's featured album is an ultra rare landmark of Tokyo ambient by one third of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Haruomi Hosono's Watering a Flower. It was originally commissioned in 1983 as back ground music for Japanese retailers Muji鈥檚 first stand alone store and initially only released on cassette. Since then it has since become a cult favourite, leading to a reissue in 2020鈥 on, of course, cassette.
