Introducing New Girl Band Rain and Shine

Episode 5 of 6

Stacey brings the tranquillity of the countryside into a single mum-of-four’s home, giving her a joyous fresh start.

The Bowens, a family of five, call on Stacey and her team to transform their cluttered home in Wales. Mum-of-four Katrina recently moved her family from the West Midlands to start a new chapter in the countryside as a single parent. As a busy mum juggling everything on her own, Katrina struggles to find the time or space to tackle the chaos in her rented home.

With Stacey and the team’s help, the Bowens pack up every possession, stripping their home bare and revealing its hidden potential. During the packing process, we get to know the family behind the clutter as Stacey learns of 17-year-old Tayla’s childhood cancer diagnosis and recent remission.

Once packed, the family’s belongings are displayed in a vast warehouse – an awe-inspiring art installation of their lives, including 425 stuffed animals, 37 pairs of scissors and 123 fancy dress outfits. With everything displayed in front of them, the family are shocked to see how much they really own and wonder how it all fitted into their house in the first place. It’s a family effort to sort through all their belongings in just two days to reduce what they own by half.

There are emotional moments in the warehouse as Katrina reflects on the overwhelming period when she was pregnant with youngest daughter Olivia while Tayla was in hospital undergoing gruelling chemotherapy, as well as opening up about her recent separation from her husband and her hopes for a fresh start in their new home. With encouragement from her kids and best friend Andrea, she embraces letting go of the past and focusing on their future.

Finally, with the most treasured items carefully chosen, Stacey and the team race against the clock to complete the transformation. Rob builds a secret door to a cosy kids' den and revamps the family room into a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy. Iwan spring-cleans from top to bottom and creates a vibrant vegetable patch outside. Back in the house, Stacey sets the mission of bringing the calmness of the countryside indoors, while Dilly uses her organisational expertise to create practical solutions, giving Katrina more time to focus on herself and her children.

Will the Bowens' newly decluttered, stylish and functional home give them the fresh start they’ve been dreaming of?
