The literary world is in mourning today after the death of South African writer Nadine Gordimer. In 2011, HARDtalk asked her if modern South Africa was what she hoped it would be?

The literary world was in mourning on Monday following the death of Nadine Gordimer,锟給ne of South Africa's greatest writers, whose fiction offered a compelling insight into the country's troubled past and complex present.锟絊he was showered with honours including the Nobel Prize for Literature but she also faced harassment and condemnation. Several of her novels were banned by the apartheid regime but her personal commitment to the liberation struggle never wavered. In 2011 Stephen Sackur asked her if modern South Africa was what she hoped it would be?
