Corsica has the highest murder rate per capita in Europe. Once known as a haven for nationalist guerrilla groups, these days many of the killings are blamed on organised criminal gangs. But in their efforts to end the mafia violence the French authorities have to tread carefully on an island where a culture of impunity prevails. Tom Esslemont investigates for Our World.
