Women and Cinema Special: Part Two - Contemporary Pioneers

In a time of tumultuous change for women in the film industry Talking Movies reports on contemporary female cinema trailblazers.

In a time of tumultuous change for women in the film industry Talking Movies reports on contemporary female trailblazers - four women who are changing the face of modern cinema.

The Oscar-winning Hollywood actress and activist Geena Davis is among the dynamic women featured in the show. Years before the advent of the #MeToo movement she was calling attention to gender disparity in the film business and campaigning for change through an institute she founded.

Another pioneering spirit interviewed in this special edition of Talking Movies is Victoria Alonso, a top producer at Marvel Studios, arguably one of the most influential women in Hollywood today whose name is on the top two grossing films at the worldwide box office this year: Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.

Other women featured in the programme include Ellen Kuras, one of the relatively few female cinematographers in the business who's enjoyed a very successful career and independent filmmaker Debra Granik, whose latest feature, Leave No Trace, is a possible Oscar contender.
