Wells Tower

New York writer Wells Tower discusses his acclaimed collection of short stories Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned. Set in modern America, with a cast of dropouts, battling siblings and runaways all adrift from the mainstream, the stories paint a witty yet despairing vision of ordinary but unlucky people.

Native American Film

For decades, indigenous Indians have been struggling to shrug off Hollywood stereotypes and develop their own film industry in the hope of creating a more accurate and contemporary picture of their history. With 350 entries to this year's Native American film festival it's a good time to ask how native film makers can remain true to their cultures while attempting to break into the mainstream.
