Heidelberg Project
Tyree Guyton, a life-long resident of Detroit is determined to fight the city's degeneration with art. For many years, he's been decorating vacant houses with colourful junk - items the city's other residents had thrown away. Known as the Heidelberg Project, it now covers more than two whole blocks in the east of Detroit.
Andrei Molodkin
The Russian contemporary artist Andrei Molodkin will be representing Russia at this year's Venice Biennale and as a prelude he's in London unveiling two new installations using human blood, oil and gas. The show is called Liquid Modernity and presents two bare grids of tubes, referencing Russian Constructivist art, which 'bleed' into each other. Mark Coles walks around the exhibition with the provocative artist.
Pieter Dirk Uys
South African comedian Pieter Dirk Ays has been a thorn in the side of governments both under apartheid and the African National Congress. On election night he will interview Archbishop Desmond Tutu in the guise of his alter ego Evita Bezuidenhout a kind of politicised version of the Australian Dame Edna Everidge. Mark Coles asks him 'will satirists win this South African election?'
