Wolverine
It's the start of cinema's Blockbuster season at the US cinema. Last year the season opened with Iron Man and closed with Batman. First up this year is X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It's the latest in the staggeringly successful X-Men franchise and reviewer Nigel Floyd tells us more.
Argentina/ South Africa Theatre Exchange
The first ever Argentine festival of South African Theatre has been taking place in Buenos Aires. It's the launch event of Proyecto 34 S - an initiative aimed at promoting cultural exchange between Latin America and Africa. The 34 S part of the name refers to the line of latitude that's shared by Cape Town and Buenos Aires, which are the former and current home cities of South African theatre director and founder of the project Nikki Froneman. The Strand reporter Rachel Hopkin went to find out more about it.
Tash Aw
Tash Aw's second novel 'Map of the Invisible World' is about Indonesia in the midst of what became known as the Sukarno purges of 1964. Supposed communists were the target of army crackdowns and killings and life for a 16 year old boy whose Dutch adoptive father has been swept away in the terror is a dangerous voyage of discovery about himself and his country just emerging from centuries of colonial occupation.
