As bats shy away from light, captive specimens were habituated to the strong light needed for high-speed capture. Ultra high speed cameras can capture the fastest and most unpredictable behaviour, in effect after it has happened. Pressing record stops the camera updating. It then retrieves images from up to three seconds earlier. The images are slowed down 40 times to show this behaviour for the first time.
