The twenty second annual Eurovision Song Contest broadcast from Wembley Conference Centre in London.Once again France set a record, becoming winners for the fifth time with Marie Myriam singing "L'oiseau et l'enfant". It was a record which would be rivalled by Luxembourg in 1983, the United Kingdom in 1997, and rivalled and beaten by Ireland in the 90s.Like many previous contests it wasn't the winning song which achieved the most success internationally, in this case it was second place finisher "Rock Bottom" by Lynsey de Paul and Mike Moran for the United Kingdom which went on to become a big hit in many European countries. The rule which only allowed countries to perform in their national languages was reintroduced for this contest for the first time since 1972, however because Germany and Belgium had already chosen songs before the decision was made they were still allowed to sing in English.Originally due to take place in early April, the contest had to be postponed due to a strike by 麻豆官网首页入口 cameramen.
