The thirty second annual Eurovision Song Contest broadcast from Palais du Centenaire in Brussels, Belgium.Johnny Logan became the first person to win the contest twice, singing "Hold Me Now" for Ireland, seven years after his last victory.Capacity was stretched with twenty two countries taking part and the European Broadcasting Union decided to set this as a limit because of the amount of time it took to stage the contest. Unfortunately this caused problems in the next few years when new and returning nations wanted to compete but were not able to.There was controversy in Israel over their duo's song choice and reportedly their culture minister threatened to resign if they took their comedic performance to Belgium. However they did go on to compete and it seems the minister's threat was unfulfilled.
