The war starts for Christine.
Christine returns to Hotspur Street in Glasgow where she lived for most of her childhood. As she sits outside the tenement building she remembers where she was, aged seven, when she heard the news that war had been declared and how she discovered that she would be going as an evacuee to a farm near Lockerbie in Dumfriesshire.
