Exclusive: the new PET scanner
Chris Marshall is the operations director of the new ?2m PET scanner in Wales. He explains the science behind the making of the radioactive material for the PET scanner. It has transformed how oncology patients can now be monitored in Wales. Previously patients had to travel to England to receive this specialist scan. Now the radiographers can scan up to eight patients a day at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Although currently for patients with cancer, the ambition for the future is to move into other medical areas such as Neurology.
