The huge, four metre long bluefin tuna has large blood vessels which allow it to keep its body temperature significantly warmer than the surrounding waters. As a result, bluefins survive in much colder waters than any other species of tuna. They will cover hundreds of miles, travelling away from their tropical hunting grounds to find food in the cold seas where the food supply is richest.
