Planning inquiry launched over former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary site decision

A planning inquiry is launched into Derby City Council's decision over the former DRI site. A Roman Catholic priest from Abbots Bromley in Staffordshire has been found guilty of sexually abusing boys.

Derby City Council has been accused of "going against basic logic" over plans to redevelop the former site of the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. Derby Hospitals NHS foundation trust is appealing the move made by councillors last October who ruled that a supermarket couldn't be built there. An inquiry into this planning decision has started today.

A Roman Catholic priest from Abbots Bromley in Staffordshire has been found guilty of sexually abusing boys. Stoke Crown Court heard Alexander Bede Walsh targeted eight victims in Coventry, Staffordshire and Warkwickshire between 1975 and 1993.
