Companion planting
Nurseryman Chris Smith is exhibiting in the Hampton Growing Tastes marquee this year with an exhibit promoting the benefits of companion planting in the vegetable garden.
In his nursery in East Pennard he demonstrates various different methods of companion planting – including planting to assist pollination and planting to deter pests.
His tips include; Plant chives to repel aphids in two ways – as plants and as a spray made by boiling them in water; plant borage to attract bees for pollination.
