Transportation of British criminals to Australia
As a result of the American War of Independence, transportees were now taken to Australia. The first criminal transportations to Australia began on 13 May 1787. This clip follows four transportees, who introduce themselves, discuss their 'crime' and reveal the length of their sentence. The convicts then reveal their differing fates in Australia.
