Pompeii - food and where you ate it

Bread was a staple food and its importance is reflected in the remains of over thirty bakeries at Pompeii. A bakery is visited and the different processes which went on there are explained. The point is made that, in general, rich and poor shared the same diet. Where they ate it, however, was very different. The wealthy ate in dining-rooms in their own homes; the poor visited the many "fast food joints" which lined the streets of the city. A visit is made to one of these and what a customer would have done there is explained.
