Reactivity of metals and their uses
An introduction to the reactivity of different metals and their uses. A swimmer talks about the metal implants in her legs. The presenter is curious to know if the metal will react with chemicals in the human body. She describes how some metals react more strongly with oxygen or water. We learn there is a 'league table' of chemical reactivity called a reactivity series. Potassium and sodium are at the top, being the most reactive metals, and silver and gold are at the bottom, being the least reactive.
