Traditional aboriginal dance

An aboriginal clan prepare to perform a traditional dance. We see the children of the village preparing for a dance ceremony by searching for white clay which they call 'gapan'. An older boy called Arnold shows the younger children where to find it and they dig it from the ground in order to make a white paste to decorate themselves before dancing. Arnold explains how important the dancing ceremony, or 'bunggul', is to the aboriginal people. We travel to a sacred spot, where the group perform a dance which tells the story of a white cockatoo searching for food.
