TV personality Saira Khan reads extracts from 'The Firework-Maker鈥檚 Daughter' by Philip Pullman, as part of the 'Bringing Books to Life' series. She explains why it鈥檚 her favourite children鈥檚 book, how it captured her imagination and why she loves to read.

The book tells the story of a brave young girl called Lila who aspires to become a Firework-Maker, like her father. Lila goes in search of Royal Sulphur from Mount Merapi, as all Firework-Makers must, and comes face to face with Razvani the Fire-Fiend.
