In the sixteenth century, Elizabethan explorer Sir Walter Raleigh embarked on an epic voyage to Guyana in the hope of finding the legendary city of El Dorado. Four hundred years on and the Serious Explorers, a team of children from the UK, are heading to South America to retrace part of Raleigh鈥檚 route. If anything went wrong during the expedition in Raleigh's day then it was unlikely that anyone would come to the rescue. It is a different world for the Serious Explorers due to the availability of modern safety equipment. Even so, in remote and dangerous places, safety depends on the experience of expedition leader Ben Major. Every expedition throws up unique challenges, with the Serious Explorers' expedition to Guyana proving to be no exception.
