How a solar superstorm 'clobbered Victorian internet'

Professor Paul Cannon from the University of Birmingham and Professor Jim Wild from Lancaster University describe the last big solar superstorm.

The Carrington event, named after British Astronomer Richard Carrington, shut down the Victorian telegraph system and meant the Aurora Borealis could be seen in the Caribbean.
