Will Russia鈥檚 smoking ban be successful?
Russia has one of the highest rates of smoking in Europe with an estimated 40% of the population regularly lighting up.
But from 1 June 2013, the first part of a smoking ban will come into force and will prohibit smoking in places including hospitals, prisons and within 15m of entrances to the metros, train stations, airports and ports.
The final stage of the ban takes place a year later on 1 June 2014 when smoking will also be prohibited in pubs and restaurants.
Albina Kovalyova reports from Moscow.
