CERN - The biggest scientific experiment ever

Brian Cox visits CERN to describe the experiments that are being done at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN to explore the moments immediately after the Big Bang. The LHC is the most complicated and expensive experiment ever undertaken. However, it follows the same common principles as all experiments: repeatability, accurate measurements, and a logical approach.

Half of the 20,000 particle physicists in the world are at CERN. Some short vox pop soundbites with a selection of them are shown. News footage of the discovery of the Higgs Boson is included. Cox emphasises that we can be confident of the discovery because two separate teams of scientists worked independently and found exactly the same thing.
