Could 'talking' cars improve safety?
Many modern cars are fitted with sensors and cameras to help drivers avoid rear-end collisions, but these systems can only detect what the vehicle can physically see in its line of sight.
To solve this problem, car manufacturers are now developing vehicle to vehicle communication which allows cars to broadcast a 360 degree awareness of speed, position and direction of travel and warn drivers about unseen hazards.
