The big interview: Mirza MC

Mirza MC started to show an interest in making his own music at the age of 11 when he began mixing records from tapes to cds, recording vocals over Indian instrumentals and rapping his own lyrics.

He learnt to play instruments like the dhol, tumbi and keyboard. At the age of 17, he began performing live in clubs. His breakthrough moment was featuring on albums by Khadija Haider and JKD.

In 2006 he was signed to a record label and produced his debut album Ruff n Ready which featured Apache Indian and Cheshire cat.

Ruff n Ready was followed up in 2010 with the release of Wicked n Wild, and now he's gearing up to release Trik n Tastic, an album that sees him once again collaborating with Apache Indian and JKD, as well as Taz from Stereo Nation, General Levy, Sona Walia, Akram Rahi, and Dj Vix.

In this extract Mirza MC joins presenter Raees Khan in the Desi Nation studio…
