A Yorkshire dialect ban for the Tour de France?
Volunteers for the Yorkshire legs of the Tour de France have been told not to welcome people with traditional local greetings like 'love' or 'darling' in case visitors are offended.
Eric Scaife from the Yorkshire Dialect Society says "Why should we change our speech for them? We're proud of it"
He admitted that some words in the Yorkshire dialect could be confusing but said "Should we change the English language to French so they aren't confused?"
