Yulia Brodskaya and paper quilling - inspiration
Yulia walks in the park and visits the local flower shop to observe nature and identify sources of inspiration and colour for her paper craft of quilling. She advises that students should experiment to develop their work. Examples of artwork by Klimt are shown which originally provided her with inspiration. The artist explains how she developed this inspiration in a more abstract way by incorporating detail and experimenting with quilling. This leads into her recent work portraying a relief paper sculpture of an old man sitting on a bench feeding pigeons. The subject of ageing is a personal theme in her work and she has shown this by taking her paper art to a new level arranging the paper strips to represent wrinkled skin.
