Stuart Semple - tools and techniques
Stuart Semple favourite materials are paint and charcoal. He is shown using the different lines and tones achieved when using charcoal and finds that he has many more possibilities than using a pencil. One of his pieces of artwork shows how he can create large graphic, solid marks and then fade these until nothing, by just using charcoal. He demonstrates how to apply charcoal to paint to create tone, illustrated by examples of his artwork using this technique. He describes how his early work used all sorts of materials inventively.
