Maryam Hashemi - from idea to art
This is the first time Maryam Hasemi has not worked on a two-dimensional surface such as paper, canvas and paint. She starts using marker pens to draw on a white van that belongs to her boyfriend in a car park. She worries about the weather and the impact of this on her work. She explains how her composition will have to follow the shapes of the van. She says that one has to overcome the fear of making mistakes and just get on with it. Her swirling line drawings covers most of the van and she shares her enthusiasm at her finished work, driving off in the magical van transformed into an artwork sprawling black and white figurative drawings, swirls and patterns.
