The trade in rare animals and products has surged in the last decade.

At Sydney’s Taronga Zoo efforts are underway to gather a new army of recruits into the fight against trafficking.

In conjunction with the wildlife monitoring trade network Traffic, the zoo has launched a free smartphone app which allows people travelling abroad to report on suspected illegal activity, as Christa Larwood reports.
