The Scottish socialite who established a WWI Field Hospital

In the early months of the First World War, as German forces marched into Belgium, a glamorous Scottish aristocrat and society hostess arrived in Brussels. With the British Army still in England, Lady Millicent Duchess of Sutherland assembled a team of eight nurses and one surgeon.
She established a field hospital in the town of Namur, witnessing first-hand the horrors of the German conquest of Belgium. Scottish author Denise Mina, herself a former nurse, travelled to Belgium in the footsteps of Lady Millicent to discover the part she played in those first weeks of war.
