Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Minute and The Inquiry
With Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú launching Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Minute – a 60 second news bulletin – in February, can short form journalism still inform audiences? And, behind the scenes at The Inquiry.
This week Rajan Datar is looking at the new short news bulletin, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Minute. It is currently in the trial stages and audiences have been reacting to a trial version online. It will launch in February 2015 as a minute burst of the latest stories released every half an hour. But can it still inform audiences? Rajan talks to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Minute editor Simon Peeks about whether the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú is trying to attract a new, younger audience with this approach.
And a listener prompts us to launch an inquiry into The Inquiry. It’s a relatively new programme on the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú World Service and its sound and approach seems to be earning listener approval. We speak to presenter Helena Merriman to find out what appeals to her as a presenter and editor Richard Knight to discuss taking a non-confrontational approach.
