The soldier who lost his leg standing on an IED in Afghanistan
Former-soldier, Craig Gadd, who was at the Afghan commemoration service at St Paul's Cathedral, has "no regrets" despite losing his leg in the Afghanistan war after standing on an improvised explosive device.
According to the charity Help for Heroes, 220,560 troops were deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 to 2014.
Mr Gadd said he knew he had lost his foot after the device exploded as there was "blood pumping everywhere", but said he counts himself lucky, as many soldiers came out of the war with brain injuries.
