Musical theatre production of I Know Me (pt 3/6)

The third in a six-part musical theatre production in which we see Jake, one of the principle characters, learning to channel his anger through music.

The third part of a six-part original musical, written and produced for secondary SEN schools. We see Jake and Sidney, the characters we were introduced to in Part 1 of the musical, and the Spirit and her Sprites, who were introduced in Part 2, in the Spirit’s world – the land of music, song and dance, a computer-generated virtual-world. While singing Journey to the Angry Place, we see the Spirit and her Sprites leading Jake and Sidney towards the Angry Place, where Jake will confront the anger that’s at the root of his bullying behaviour. The Spirit and Sprites sing journey to the Angry Place, with a line sung by Jake that highlights the issue he’s been brought to the Spirit’s world to resolve. We see Jake in a scrap yard setting singing the song So Angry with a group of characters - the Crusties. The song includes chorus, solo and rap and has a strong rock theme. We see the Spirit enter the scene and cast a spell while singing the solo Spell Against Anger. She guides Jake to a djembe and we see him leading the characters from the Angry Place, who play on junk percussion, in a percussion piece. Jake learns to channel his anger through playing the drum. Transported back to the Spirit’s world, we see Jake talk about the reasons behind his anger and bullying.
