Musical theatre production of I Know Me (pt 4/6)

The fourth in a six-part musical theatre production in which we see Sidney, one of the principle characters, learn to overcome his fear through dance and laughter.

The fourth part of a six-part original musical, written and produced for secondary SEN schools. We see Jake and Sidney, the characters we were introduced to in Part 1 of the musical, and the Spirit and her Sprites, who were introduced in Part 2, in the Spirit’s world – the land of music, song and dance, a computer-generated virtual-world. While singing Journey to the Scary Place we see the Spirit and her Sprites leading Jake and Sidney towards the Scary Place, where Sidney will confront the fear that’s at the root of his insecurities. The Spirit and Sprites sing Journey to the Scary Place, with a line sung by Sidney that highlights the issue he’s been brought to the Spirit’s world to resolve. Sidney’s transported to a haunted house where we see him being spooked by vampires and ghouls. We see the master of the house singing the song Scary Tonight. The song includes a solo, a simple chorus and a spoken refrain. At the end of the song we see the Spirit cast a spell. She turns the scary scene into a comic dance number – the song, The Spooky Step. Sidney finds that dance and laughter make him fear less. Back in the Spirit’s world, we see Sidney talking about his feelings of self-doubt.
