'The dream of the Arab Spring is still alive'

The recent terrorist attack in Tunisia where gunmen killed 20 foreign tourists and a local policeman in the capital's National Bardo Museum have caused visitor numbers to the country to plummet.

Tunisia has been in a precarious position since the 2011 revolution and yet it is the only country to have emerged from the Arab Spring phenomenon with any degree of success.

However, officially unemployment runs at 15% and among young people it is much higher. One major source of jobs and a pillar of the Tunisian economy is tourism which now looks to have a bleak future - at least in the short term.

The 麻豆官网首页入口's Lerato Mbele sat down with the country's former finance minister, Jalloul Ayed, and asked him how serious the fall in visitor numbers could be for what remains a fragile country.
