Mayweather v Pacquiao is 'best against the best' says Amir Khan

Amir Khan says the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao pits the 'best against the best.'

Amir Khan says the highly anticipated fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao pits the 'best against the best' in boxing.

The two meet in Las Vegas on 2 May, with Khan touted as a future opponent for the winner of the fight.

"It's going to be a huge fight and one we've been waiting for, for a long, long time so it's definitely going to be one people shouldn't miss," Khan said.

"Time will tell and show who the best fighter is on Saturday night.

"I'll be watching very closely as there's a lot of talk about me fighting the winner of this fight but I'm just going to enjoy it as a boxing fan and I'm going to be sat there like everyone else enjoying the show because I really think it's going to be an explosive fight.

The British boxer, who is currently preparing for his next fight, says the bout at the MGM Grand is a tough one to call.

"At times it's going to be like a game of chess, both parties are going to be working out each other and this is boxing at the highest level because you're getting the best against the best," he said.

"I think by watching both fighters train and box it's going to be a lot closer. Time will tell.

"I think Pacquiao is the more hungrier fighter because he knows what this fight holds for him.

"I think it's a 50/50 fight for the first few rounds but then I feel Mayweather might edge forward with his experience and confidence and take the next six rounds and hopefully win the fight.

When asked who he would want to win the fight with the prospect of facing them in the future, Khan was clear.

"I'd rather fight Mayweather," he said.

"The reason why is because me and Pacquiao are friends and have trained together. On top of that, Mayweather is an unbeaten fighter and to beat an unbeaten fighter has got to be the best feeling ever. So I'd like to meet Floyd Mayweather because he's unbeaten and I want to give him his first loss."
