Jimmy Savile play opens
The new play An Audience with Jimmy Savile is the first response by theatre to the crimes of Jimmy Savile.
The play was created by journalist Jonathan Maitland and the title role is played by actor Alistair McGowan.
Asked why he decided to create the play, Mr Maitland replied: 鈥淪ometimes drama can answer the really important questions more effectively.鈥
Based on real events and using material including transcripts of police interviews, the play focuses on the decades of abuse and how Savile manipulated his unique position to cover up his crimes.
The play opens on 10 June 2015 at the Park Theatre in London.
