Exclusive: Rachel Dolezal parents: ‘We told the truth’
A US civil rights activist at the centre of allegations that she had “pretended to be black” has resigned from her position with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Rachel Dolezal, 37, did not address the issue of her ethnicity in a statement posted on her Facebook page but media reports suggest she had claimed to be a mix of white, black and American Indian on her application to serve on the citizen police ombudsman commission of Spokeane, Washington in January.
In their first British television interview, Rachel’s parents, Ruthanne and Larry, told Victoria why they decided to reveal their daughter’s secret.
