Ex-Minister wants estates turned into 'city villages'
Many agree there is a housing shortage in the UK, but the problem is what to do about it on a crowded island where most new developments face considerable local opposition.
Former Labour minister Lord Adonis thinks the answer is to turn existing housing estates into 'city villages' by rebuilding them, squeezing more homes and amenities in, and offering a mix of social and private housing.
He explains his idea in this Daily Politics film, and will debate them with MPs Emma Reynolds and Priti Patel on Wednesday's Daily Politics around 12:40 BST.
